Easy IPA Beer by Flying Dog Brewery

Beer blurb: They say that life isn’t easy. They also say that you should always put pants on before you go out in public, the best meals aren’t made in the microwave, couches aren’t meant to have cupholders and condiments come in vessels other than squeezy tubes. Clearly they aren’t always right.

Easy IPA Flying Dog

Brewery notes: The Easy IPA Beer produced by Flying Dog Brewery is Perfect for easy drinking as spring turns into summer, our Easy IPA is a light-bodied brew huge citrus notes upfront that blend into stone fruit (think apricot and peach) softness. Biscuit malt notes float in the background as it finishes crisp and refreshing.

Strength: 4.7% Alc/Vol. 355 ml. Ingredients: Hops, Barley, Water, Yeast. Imported by: James Clay: HD6 1LU

Can design: Other reviews focus primarily on the taste of the beer, but when it comes to off-licence beer, the design is equally important. Punters buy with their eyes first and foremost, so I like to throw a few opinions from a good old fashioned branding perspective. I loved the design of this can. The illustration was created by Ralph Steadman, a Welsh artist best known for his work with American author Hunter S. Thompson. So already we’re in good hands. The colours match the character of the beer perfectly and the little monster on the front is the perfect embodiment of what the beer would look like it it was a red-nosed little gremlin. Top work.

Easy IPA is a Session Indian pale ale you can pick up from Tesco. The beer has a citrusy aroma with a touch of malt and grass. There’s also a few soapy notes as well. The ale pours golden and clear with a bubbly white head that settles down and after a few minutes. Taste is clean and has a nice mix if slightly bitter and slightly sweet. It’s not as hoppy as you might think based on smell alone. The malt shines through although, but tails off quite quickly. Good carbonation and definitely a good session beer. Easy to drink (as the name suggests).

Aromas of grapefruit and subtle spice meld into lemon and pine hop notes balanced with crisp cracker malt. Pair this with tailgates, mowing the lawn, and anything else that calls for a light, yet flavorful, beer.

Brewed by: Flying Dog Brewery, Frederick MD.

If Easy IPA Beer by Flying Dog Brewery was a song it would be Three Dog Night – Mama told me not to come

Final score: 4/5
