A forum thread about an online crane game’s overly generous assist mode got filed under UFO news; it isn’t.
First, the desk must ruin the fun. In Japan ‘UFO catcher’ is a trademarked name for claw machines, coined by Sega in 1985. No aircraft, no radar, no pilot testimony. Just a joystick and a prize you’ll never win.
The Vippers.jp thread shares a video of an online version where the assist function apparently helps too much, nudging the plush toy into the chute like a rigged fairground stall. The link is dead on our end and the thread offers zero technical detail on the mechanism, so we can’t grade the claim beyond ‘someone got a toy easier than expected’.
Filed as UAP watch only because the algorithm and the headline writer both saw ‘UFO’ and stopped reading. Nothing here challenges anyone’s understanding of physics. It challenges Sega’s marketing budget.
